Are you ready for a Spring detox?

Are you ready for a Spring detox?

March 10, 2022

The days are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer – it’s officially springtime! This is the perfect season to start fresh, feel rejuvenated after a long, cold winter, and do a little detoxing as you prepare your body for the sunny days ahead.

Why detox now?

Detoxing is the process of removing toxins and harmful substances from the body. There are many different detox methods available such as diets, supplements, and herbs, but they all have the same goal: to improve overall health. Other benefits include reducing inflammation, boosting immunity and energy levels, losing weight and improving mental clarity.

Spring is a time of renewal and is a great way to jump-start your health journey and set the tone for the rest of the year. Springtime also offers an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables to eat or drink, whilst the sun encourages more of us to be active and enjoy the great outdoors.

Here are 5 tips for a successful Spring detox:

Drink plenty of water.

Staying hydrated is key to any detox plan. Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day to flush out your system. If possible, add a slice of lemon or cucumber for flavour and antioxidant-rich properties.

Cleanse your skin.

A Spring detox is also a great opportunity to cleanse your skin. Use a gentle cleanser or exfoliator once or twice a week to help remove all the impurities from your skin, without stripping it of its natural oils.

Eat organic, detoxifying foods.

During a detox, it’s important to focus on eating wholesome, nutrient-rich foods that aren’t filled with additives, preservatives or sugar. Try incorporating fruits and vegetables into your diet like kale, spinach, beets, pineapple, oranges, as well as detoxifying spices like ginger and cumin.

Get plenty of exercise and fresh air.

Exercise is a great way to help your body detoxify this Spring, and spending time outside in the fresh air is always a plus in strengthening your body’s immunity and oxygen levels. Take a walk in the park, go for a bike ride, or just sit in the sun and enjoy the lovely British weather.

Relax.

One of the most important tips for a successful Spring detox is to relax and take it easy. Stress can hinder your body in a number of ways, causing headaches, high blood pressure and anxiety. So, make sure to get plenty of sleep and maybe practice yoga or meditation - whatever works for you!

So there you have it! Are you ready for a Spring detox?
